The Negative Cash Flow for GPs

There are over 26,000 portfolio companies currently sitting in buyout funds and that represents $2.7 trillion in unrealized value. Nearly one quarter of those buyout portfolio companies have already been held by GPs for six years. LP cash flow turned negative in 2022 after being quite positive in 2021. Global private capital raised so far this year is tracking 30% lower than last year.
