I wonder if recognizing it leads to a greater toleration of diversity because in the religious example you gave, recognizing that I don't really have access to the experiential elements of a religious believer's world. Once I recognize that's something which I don't have access to, I'm less of an authority perhaps about whether they're right or not and maybe more prepared to be tolerant,. Absolutely.
