The Importance of Loving Your Neighbor
The good Samaritan is everybody of good conscience and ethics, that the GOP is attacking all the time. If DeSantis wants to tell the story, it would be like a trans person who shielded the people from this predator. The idea that Jesus asks in this parable Christianity, 'Who is my neighbor? I don't know about you.' That's exactly what the right has done with religion. It takes a message of radical inclusion...and turns it into a story of the strong being stronger,. Of oppression, of violence, redemptive violence as the sort of model.
