The 10 year survival rate for patients with metastatic cancer is virtually the same now as it was 50 years ago, zero. When cancers are detected early in stage one, survival rates skyrocket. This is partly because of simple math. The early stage cancers compromise fewer total cancer cells and thus are more vulnerable to treatment.
