The Compensation Structure for Authors
Most authors do not get an advance. Our model is, traditional publishing let's say some of the publishers are typically going to give you royalties of around 8 to 12%. And royalties come after our costs are covered. So if it costs $50,000 to produce a book we start paying royalties on the net after the $ 50,000 is covered. If they're more expenses along the way then we have to cover those costs before the royalties start paying out again. It's basically a cost share and a royalty share.
