Dispensationalism in American Protestantism
Disentationalism is a late development in Christian history and started in the 19th century. The culmination of it is that sort of apocalyptic scenario we associate with left behind movies. In dispensationalism, basically the end you're waiting for is to escape in the rapture. It's such a disordered and disorienting way of thinking about our inhabitation of time.
