Hesiod's Theogony
Hesiod has been attributed to various other poems, but his authorship has been questioned on all of them. His Theogony reflects a world in which relationship of gods and men is based on rational motive with justice as the ultimate aim. Some scholars surmise that Hesiod may have learned about world geography by listening to his father's accounts of his own sevoitges as a merchant. He probably grew up speaking the local bowiechan dialect.
