Valuing the Good of Disproportionate Blasts
In ancient Greek cities, women who died in childbirth were given commensurate honors to men who died in battle. I'm sure we certainly could do a better job of recognizing that. You know, the burdens of soldiers, for example, but I think especially since 9-11, the recognition that we give to police officers and firefighters,. emergency service workers is much more than used to be the case.
