John Pemberton and Anne Eliza Clifford-Lewis
John Pemberton was born on January 8, 1831 in Knoxville, Georgia. He entered the Reform Medical College of Georgia and married Anne Eliza Clifford-Lewis shortly thereafter. During the American Civil War he served in the third cavalry battalion of the Georgia State Guard - at that time a component of the Confederate army. Coca-Cola was invented by a Confederate.
