Gregory's grandmother, Manique Vilman, was one of 13 siblings alone. The extended family consisted of over 140 individuals and previous investigations to identify the caller had proved fruitless. It seemed unlikely that the killer would have sent the letter prior to the kidnapping. If they were working with an accomplice, this meant someone else could have taken care of the mail drop once the boy was taken.
