The Strange Story of Edward Lansdale

Ellsberg is the template. He's kind of held up everyone since them has been kind of Jesus like the way Ellsberg was because he said, I knew I was going to jail for life. And so that he got lucky in a sense. So this guy winds up being the first person successfully convicted. But on the other hand, he was not a likable guy. There was no noble motive that anybody could see. The establishment in 1984 and 85, they were sort of trying to decide how to mentally handle this case. Do we really want to support the Reagan government's war on leakers to the press? That felt wrong.
