Josh says he doesn't really know. It seems like it's more than six feet, but is it 10? 15 or 20? Nobody knows. I personally have been using a 10 foot rule and the farther the better. The thing that makes the most difference, and like every expert that I talk to without fail reminded me of this is just not going anywhere, unless you absolutely have to.
