The Mamlukes - What Do You Think About Them?

In mediaeval slavery, blackness matters, but the way that they're connected to slave status is not the same. There was one other question about the mamlukes that seemed strange to me. So throughout the book, you discuss the role of of color or race in how categorized slaves. And i think you make this distinction that buyers, merchants and buyers, did care about the color of the people that they were trafficking. But it didn't make a difference to whether or not you were legally a slave. When it comes to the mamuks, they had this sort of scheme of the world where they called them all turks.
