The Malabro Men Never Died, Just Moved to Africa
Fossil fuel companies are trying to create ongoing almost colonial dependence in the global South. They're basically lobbying African governments and really trying to get across this message that in order to develop Africa needs fossil fuels. Because of so much inaction, because of the great acceleration in emissions, that time is passed for no longer in a time when that's a reasonable kind of statement according to the math of emissions to make any more. The other issue is that it is no longer cheaper to build a coal power plant than to build a renewable power plant.
