The Cost of Procurement in the US Military System
In recent years, there's been a lot of talk about problems with procurement within the American military system. There's been a series of procurement programs that haven't gone well and they've been incredibly expensive. How much of the US under capitalization is due to splurging on this kind of future weapons platform that tends to be extremely high maintenance and not particularly usable? It's an interesting question,. I think that the dynamic here is not necessarily one of splurging, and I think the sum vault in the LCS, which is actually two classes, by the way, the Freedom and the Liberty class, isn't optimum in itself.
