Is There a Need for More Social Housing?
I'm not here to make anyone feel comfortable, least of all the people in power that should have dealt with this a very, very long time ago. This issue of poor housing hasn't existed for the year and a half that I've been going into people's homes with a camera. The thing that links every bit of the housing sector, whether it's buying, renting privately or council, is that there is not enough supply. So often tenants are told, well, move out and move somewhere else. There isn't anywhere for them to move. And what's frustrating even more is that pushback from backbenches because I could go into their constituency and find tenants living in poor conditions
