The Impediment to Change in Congress
The January 6th committee is definitely one of those committees that everyone knows about, but that committee is really unique. So the committees that I was just referring to are standing committees. That is their permanent committees. They haven't changed in a while. But then Congress has and still continues to create these select committees. These are temporary committees that Congress might create in order to deal with a specific issue of the day like the January 6th Committee. Those committees are easier to create with a resolution. And of course do not benefit from the long term staff and organizational memory of permanent committees though.
