The Evolution of Natural Philosophy in the 17th Century
The idea that an Aristotle was very teleological. Things happened because that was how they were meant to happen. That in itself wasn't, I don't think was challenged in the 17th century. It became much more about finding out what nature told you about the way it behaves. In terms of the fine details, the fine grain of the world, we could take nothing for granted anymore or assume that it was in ancient works.
