The Stockholm Syndrome of the Government

I'm curious what it is about the government, where people have this mindset that it can be reformed. Why are they so unwilling to actually just consider this parallel alternative of Bitcoin? I think one is just the embarrassment of admitting that we don't really understand how it functions or why it functions that way. And I also think one of the ones that's the most important is that when we start actually saying, hey, this isn't working, we can't vote for a change.
