In every workplace people have pride in what they do and are trying to do the very best. It reminds me of a study done in the rail industry, where one rail company thought that the reason why drivers were slightly overshooting red signals on two-way tracks was because they were careless or not paying attention. And so then they looked back and they also spoke with the drivers,. One, that the drivers didn't know when the red lights were going to change the green. So they waited as late as possible before they started breaking. But the second reason was that there was an emphasis on obviously schedule and fuel consumption.
