You should have a well-defined understanding of what it is that's flowing into that component if you can. And then you can reason about what level of risk is associated with that component being compromised. So for us, one thing that we do in our production environment is microservices are considered to be a security boundary. The same vulnerability in the two different environments has a very different impact.
