The History of Puar Tea in Yunnan

The Lanzang runs right through Xishwangpana before it continues on, marking the border between Laos and Myanmar. Puar tea comes from around this southern Yunnan region and nowhere else. Tea cultivation may have begun with the 7T plants on Mungting Shan and Suu-Chuan with Wu Li-Juan in 53 BC. But the Dai and other aboriginal peoples of these parts were long familiar with Camellia cenensis before then.
