The idea of biological inheritance comes to the forefront in the late 1800s with Darwin's on the origin of species published in 1859. The name eugenics comes from British polymath Sir Francis Galton, who was Charles Darwin's half cousin. He said that if animals can be bred and foods can be bred, we can shape nature to our will. If those things are true, which they are, then why can't we do the same for humans?
