The Importance of the Euden Edict

The Euden Edict of 1837 made it illegal for Jews to leave Germany. It also created really strict regulations for their lives, such as marriage and immigration. Lubb Strauss' mother filed an immigration petition because she didn't have the financial support anymore. She had children in the United States who could help her get settled there. The family moved to New York where they started a dry goods business.
