In 1999, Riko declared himself in the NBA draft and was super disappointed when no teams wanted him. In 2000, he ended up joining the Harlem Globetrotters as a way to make money while playing the sport he loved. But his time on the team was cut short because he got a very bad head injury that actually ended his entire basketball career. He then began using speed and then crystal meth for about five or six years. After surviving a severe overdose, he went to Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center where he learned how to get sober. His life turned around after meeting Jennifer Song at an event security job; they are now planning their wedding.
