Kabish says the narratives of those who returned disillusioned from joining Islamic State were also used to dissuade others. In 2014, a group of men from Kalyan, a suburban Mumbai, left their homes allegedly with the aim of joining Islamic State. One of them was believed to have been killed, only to return to India allegedly with the help of Indian agencies. Kabish: "These kind of cases, as they came through, became counter narratives in themselves"
