The Dangers of Product Disease in a Sales Led Organization

A product disease in a company that is sales led is the disease I call obsessive sales disorder. This happens when your salesperson comes to you with a glimmer in their eye and they tell you excitedly, "We can win this mega client if you just add this one custom feature" That approach leads to pivotitis where at first we're doing one thing, then the next day we're going to try something completely different. Another disease that is really common with engineering led organizations is what I call narcissist complex. We build this shiny object that we think is so amazing, but then it turns out that's not what the customer actually needs. But by the way, all of these diseases
