The Great Forest Upanishad

The great forest Upanishad, from which we've been quoting, is the oldest of the Upanishads. It sets the tone for those that would follow, using the familiar as a map or template to understand what is unfamiliar and unknown. If self and world are organized along fundamentally analogous lines, then self-control and self-understanding become methods for controlling and understanding the world.
