The Crime Scene Was Not Secured
There's a possibility that we would have had an eyewitness of that vehicle being parked for a time period. Police are very good at finding vehicles and there's a good chance that they would have known what kind of vehicle to hone in on. Unfortunately, this was a murder that happened. I believe everything went down rather quickly and in the process, the killer left few clues behind. And when you fail to locate and document the suspects, cars, tire tracks left behind, you severely compromised your investigation.
