The History of the Truman Committee
During the late 1940s or after World War II broke out, there was an immediate recognition in some parts of the government that the United States very quickly needed to get ready for war. The Truman Committee took a look at all that money being spent and tried to figure out was it being spent wisely? Was it being wasted? And by all accounts, throughout the course of the war, the Truman Committee saved the country billions of dollars and probably an unknown number of lives on the battlefield.
