The combination of that massive war debt and a series of bad harvests in the 17 eighties brought france to the breaking point. King louis the sixteenth had no choice but to introduce radical new economic policies and huge tax hight. The resurgent parliament resisted bitterly and defeated or weakened most of his reforms. In 17 88, the money finally ran out, the king had no choicebut to call the estates general for the first time in over a hundred years. That's all for now.
