He leaves the Americas in 1799, when he is only 16 years old. He arrives in Spain and there he's going to receive more of an education. During his time in Spain, he actually gets banished from the imperial court because he goes and does something terrible - wears diamonds without permission. But despite the fact that they got engaged pretty early on, they would still have to wait several years as individual duties ended up keeping them from one another.
