The Growth Rate of the Economy Jumped Significantly in 2015
In 2015, the Central Statistics Office released a new base year series. In one year it went from negative growth rate in the old series to almost 6% and 7%. By 2016, we also got a feel of the economy by looking at other things. Exports were not growing. Investment had stagnated. Now, in a country where investment has stagnated for a few years, the banking sector is in a non-performing asset crisis. How can you have an economy growing at 7%, 7.5%?
