The word Atonement is only used one time in the King James New Testament. Paul talks about human beings will rarely die for someone else, but Christ died for the ungodly. God loves friend and enemy regardless of whether or not the outcome is what he hoped for. "I think it's clear here that he would do it, even if it didn't save us"
