Did Montgomery Clift Get Drunk at the Chateau?

Clift was known for going up into the surrounding hills and hunting quail and pigeons. He would take these birds back to his hotel room and have like, dinner parties. Montgomery cliffd carried out an affair with actress libby holman at the chateau while he was in the middle of shooting the film red river. The romance eventually ended, but clifft returned to the Chateau again in 19 56 alone after a near fatal car crash. Clift was driving home after leaving a dinner party in beverly hills hosted by his co star, elizabeth taylor, when he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed head on into a telephone pole.
