"I have a dear friend who is going through cancer right now and she's fighting really, really hard." The actress was diagnosed during production on Veep at the same time as other cast members were told they would not be covered by their health insurance. She has since been able to raise awareness about healthcare access for those suffering from illness.

She was recently honored with the White House’s National Medal of Arts, the highest award given to artists who advance the arts in the United States.
