Sailing - Running Backstays With the Staisal Stay

When you're out ocean sailing, you just don't really tack very much. Most of our boats, if we're sailing off the wind and the backstay goes, there's a really good chance we'll lose the mast. I'm pretty certain the runner would keep the mast up until you had time to react. It seems really, really easy to do and a nice redundant feature.
