The role of the body, i think, has been neglected in typical psychology cognitive science for a variety of reasons. In our natural behaviour, we were interacting with our environment all the time nhow we perceive things through our bodies. Idea of embodied interactions is really important to understand the phenomenology of perceptual experience. The self is the perception, not the thing that does the perceiving. This is the bias we get when we think about vision, which may often be about that, but it's about control and regulation.
