Personal spirit-to-spirit experiences

In the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the opening of the heavens constitutes in part, revelation being sent from the other side of the veil. These revelatory experiences are received through various means and ways and very often received from heavenly messengers. How does heaven and earth communicate with each other? Our spirits are more refined and inherently recognize these communications as being familiar.
