The Black Fashion Museum
Lois Alexander Lane started the Black Fashion Museum in 1979. She put out newspaper and TV ads asking people to donate items. The museum has a collection of more than 3,000 pieces from African-American history. It was known by word of mouth but also as a tourist attraction.
