CHAPTER

The Unconscious Bias of Elizabeth Holmes

Elizabeth Holmes was found guilty of four counts of defrauding investors. Many suspected that she faked her voice, and some YouTubers have scoured through interviews to find examples where she fell out of character. Unfortunately everyone seems to have an unconscious bias towards lower pitched voices. Stating that Holmes only got away with her lies for so long because she faked herVoice is totally missing the point. The halo effect, the watched eye effect, labour illusion, all of these biases contribute just as much, and arguably more than her voice and look alone. To end the show I share a way for you to keep an eye out for snake oil salespeople like Holmes.
