The Origins of Polytheism

The idea of polytheism is that the gods act and live in community. And so they viewed the gods as being community, just like people were. The messengers are kind of like gophers, wouldn't you, John? They're kind of on the perimeter who do, you know, take messages and things. There's a hierarchy among the gods.
