The Landlord Is a Kind of Satire of Christian Morality, Right?
I don't really think that the landlord, if you want, reflects like a genuine kind of christian morality. Almost everything that he's doing is about his own self gratification or trying to placate his uneasy conscience. And in many ways, there's this kind of almost protonecian satire of all the different ways that he tries to construe this indifference to his inner life as some kind of moral act on the boss's part. Man, michael scott popped into my head more than a few times reading this.
