Research shows that the ground has shifted horizontally across much of the northern hemisphere. Dan fox talks to san masoud, nature's africa and middle east bureau chief about the upcoming u.N bidiversity conference in China. San says there have been repeated pledges to first slow down the rate or by diversity loss - but it hasn't happened. And is a lot of frustration, particularly among scientists who, liking climate change, have been sending out warning signals for a while.

How insects help release carbon stored in forests, and the upcoming biodiversity summit COP 15.
