The concept of land houses was brought from south carea to brazil. As broad then became more available in recher neighborhoods, the need for land houses died away a little bit. Rich families were not happy with the fact that kids were spending too much time in these gaming centrs where nothing happens. They would go to these spaces to print tho on background checks. And it was interesting because they started to work as the i s p, the internet providers of those spaces. But unfortunately, when you look into bBrazil, you look into the spaces, you don't look into the favellas.
Paris Marx is joined by David Nemer to discuss how residents of Brazil’s favelas reshape technologies developed in the Global North to serve their needs, and how technology alone does not solve social oppression.
