The Importance of Archaeology in Freud's Philosophy

The work of the archaeologists can be analogised to that of the psychoanalysis. The idea that archaeology is kind of digging into the dirt and finding things which look at the surface to be insignificant, actually have a profound meaning. And I think that's why archaeology became such an important mode for thinking about psychoanalysis for Freud. It was very clear in the passage from the eutiology of hysteria, the psychoanalysis who wants to look beneath the surface.
