The Value of Mulch-Based Systems for Weed Control in Changing Climates

Mulch-based systems and especially sort of natural mulches where you're adding organic matter to the soil have a lot of utility both in conditions that are too wet or too dry. Increasing moisture variability is one of the greatest climate change impacts that we're already seeing and that we expect to see moving forward. It's like there's an early investment if you're putting down like a thick layer of natural mulch that's going to last all season. There's an early season investment in time to make that happen but it takes away the sort of oh no is it going to rain is it not going to rain stress later on in the season.
