How to Distract Your Brain

When you start noticing yourself ruminating, switch to action to disrupt it. A two thousand 15 study found that going for a walk in nature reduces rumination because it creates positive emotions. Exercise is another brilliant way to reduce rumination when you start exercising. When we do something that we really love and we're passionate about, guess what happens? We increase the dopomine in our brain. That in turn dissipates feel good emotion in ourselves, and then we are less apt to ruminate.
