The Pandemic of Candida Oris
Candida oris is a yeast in the Candida species which are generally very common. The most important thing about it is that it's incredibly drug resistant. Once it gets into hospital setting it seems to stick to surfaces. It's transmitted in intravenous lines, catheters, even blood pressure cuffs. And standard cleaning measures have proved ineffective to the point. Whole intensive care units had to be shut down. Even though the nature of the pandemic may be very different from what we're used to now with for example COVID it could have a profound and massive impact on healthcare.
