The Israeli judiciary does not work like the American judiciary. Israel has a sort of bizarre military system where everybody is drafted, but then there are certain groups of people who are volunteer reservists. They can actually be called back into service in case of an emergency if they don't get enough training to do it on their own. The U.S. Supreme Court selected its own successors and that's what you would normally call a dictatorship.
